Holiday Notes: Overtime, a Day Trip to Nan’ao, and a Guilin Business Trip

October 3

I got called in to work overtime today. At noon, Little Bear absolutely refused to nap and kept shouting, “I can’t sleep, I can’t sleep.” By a little after 8 in the evening, she finally gave in and fell asleep.

October 4

We went to Nan’ao for the day.

We got up at 8 and left at 9. By 9:40, traffic had already backed up under the bridge, and we were stuck there for a full hour before finally getting onto it. After crossing, we stopped in Houzhai Town for lunch. The meal was very simple: one plate of stir-fried rice noodles and a bowl of soup, 50 yuan in total.

After lunch, we headed for Qing’ao Bay. The drive took nearly another 40 minutes, so it was close to 2 p.m. by the time we arrived. We found a place to rest first, then took Little Bear to dig in the sand and splash around by the shore.

We headed back at 4:30. Near the bridge, traffic jammed up again, and we lost another hour there. It was around 7:30 by the time we got back into the city for dinner. We ate at Yuman Tang and ended up completely stuffed.

October 5

Jasmine seemed wiped out from yesterday and had no energy today, so she stayed lying in bed. I took Little Bear downstairs and let her play around in the neighborhood for a while.

October 6

Jasmine had recovered by the morning. The three of us took Little Bear out while we got a few things done: paying for the gas, getting a haircut, and buying groceries. After dinner, we went to KFC.

October 7

It was the last day of the seven-day holiday. Little Bear was already up in the morning, so I had no choice but to bring her along to the market to buy vegetables.

October 8

The make-up workday started today. I got out of bed very unwillingly.

October 9

I left for Guilin on a business trip today. I headed out a little after 8 in the morning because I was worried Little Bear wouldn’t want to let me go.

The flight went smoothly and wasn’t delayed. By the time we got to the airport, it was already past noon, so we ate at KFC there. The airport KFC didn’t accept discount coupons, which made it feel pretty expensive. The three of us each had a burger and a Coke, and it cost more than 30 yuan in total.
